Before buying a coat or jacket, it pays to look at length, material and versatility, because these are what decide how often you will wear it. Hollert German Leather relies on shearling, leather and wool, with pieces that, depending on the model, are carefully made by hand.

Long or short: finding the right cut

Depending on the model, long coats reach below the knee and protect your legs from the cold too, ideal for winter walks and the commute. Fitted cuts with a tie belt accentuate the silhouette, while straight and slightly oversized styles leave room for a chunky knit underneath. Short jackets, blousons and biker jackets offer more freedom of movement and go well with jeans. Types of fleece: shearling, Toscana and curly

Not all sheepskin is the same. Shearling is clipped short and even, and depending on the model the outside shows velvety suede or smooth leather. Toscana sheepskin stands out for its silky sheen and voluminous texture and feels especially soft; you will find a dedicated selection in our Toscana sheepskin coats. Curly fleece is naturally curled and adds a lively accent as a collar or as an entire fleece side, while merino sheepskin is known for being fine and cosy.

Leather: lamb nappa and suede

If you prefer something lighter, choose leather. Lamb nappa is smooth, fine and supple, and smooth leather develops its own patina over time.
