Linen trousers for men: made for warm days
Linen has been used for summer clothing for centuries, and for good reason. The fibre is smooth and strong, absorbs moisture quickly and releases it just as quickly. The fabric therefore barely clings to the skin, lets air circulate and helps to balance temperature. At Hollert German Leather, men's linen trousers are made from pure linen, with no synthetic fibres added.
Long or short?
Long linen trousers are the more elegant choice: they suit dinner on the terrace, the office on hot days and travel, when one garment needs to cover many situations. Short linen trousers are made for leisure time, holidays and weekends, whether in town, by the water or in the evening. Both share the same fabric, which develops a softer, livelier texture over time and gains character along the way.
Combining: from shirt to shoes
Linen trousers call for a light top, such as a polo shirt, a plain T-shirt or a shirt in the same material. Men's linen shirts with a band collar or a Kent collar pick up the texture of the fabric and make the look coherent. Keep your shoes light too: loafers and slip-ons in leather or calf suede, as found among our men's summer shoes, go with long and short linen trousers alike. Caring for linen properly
Linen is uncomplicated if you keep a few things in mind: wash it on a gentle cycle at a low temperature and do not put it in the tumble dryer. Small creases are part of the character of the material and partly smooth out on their own as you wear it; if you prefer a crisper look, iron the trousers while they are slightly damp. With every season the fabric becomes softer and more comfortable.
