Kids' sheepskin jackets for cold days
For toddlers, the winter jacket is the garment that goes through the most: the walk to nursery in the morning, the sandpit in the afternoon, a walk in the woods at the weekend. A children's jacket with real sheepskin therefore has to keep them warm, fit comfortably and be easy to put on. At Hollert German Leather, genuine sheepskin is the material of choice: soft, warming and breathable.
Fit: room to move, but not too big
Children grow quickly, and it is tempting to buy a jacket a good deal bigger. A middle way has proven itself: enough room for a thick jumper underneath and for nothing to pull when climbing, but not so much that the sleeves slide over the hands or the hem gets in the way when running. Go by the size your child is wearing at the moment and, if in doubt, compare with a well-fitting jacket from the wardrobe.
Getting dressed and everyday life
Mornings often have to be quick. A jacket that is not too tight slides easily over a jumper, and young children can practise slipping into it themselves. In the pushchair or the bike seat, where your child hardly moves, the sheepskin holds in the warmth. When running around the playground, the breathable wool lets moisture escape. And if you want to be wrapped up warmly yourself in the morning, you will find matching women's coats and jackets or can browse our overview of sheepskin jackets for young and old.
What kind of weather?
A sheepskin jacket is at its most comfortable on cold, dry days, from a frosty morning to a winter walk. Sheepskin is a natural material, not rain protection: in persistent rain, a rain jacket is the better choice. If the jacket does get wet, let it dry slowly at room temperature, not on the radiator, and then gently brush the fleece. You can find out more in our guide cleaning and caring for sheepskin properly.
