Wool coats for women and men

Few garments express quiet elegance as convincingly as a wool coat. At Hollert the category stands for premium natural products: carefully selected fibres, clean workmanship and cuts that are not out of fashion after a single season. Wool warms reliably, evens out temperature naturally and stays breathable – which makes it as suitable for the daily commute as for a formal occasion. Fine fibres: wool, cashmere and alpaca

Wool owes its warmth to the crimp of the fibre: air is held between the waves, and that trapped air is what insulates. At the same time the fibre absorbs moisture into its core without feeling damp, which is why a wool coat still feels comfortable when you step from the frost into a heated room. Cashmere comes from the fine undercoat of the cashmere goat; its individual fibres are much finer than sheep's wool, so a share of it makes a fabric softer and lighter. Alpaca is partly hollow inside, insulates accordingly well and still stays feather-light. Depending on the style you will find pure wool or blends of wool with cashmere or alpaca.

For women: from the office to deep winter

The women's wool coats range from a structured business cut to a softly draping winter style. A long wool coat lengthens the silhouette and carries formal occasions, while shorter cuts allow more freedom of movement. What matters is the layer underneath: a blazer or chunky knitwear needs room across the shoulder and upper arm.

For men: classic coats and shorter jackets

The men's wool coats read the classic in straight, confident lines. Alongside long coats that fall over a suit or knitwear, you will find shorter wool jackets for changeable days. Collars and fastenings differ from style to style, and that is what makes a coat look more formal or more casual.

Care and keeping its shape

Wool largely keeps itself clean: regular airing outdoors replaces most cleaning, and a broad shaped hanger preserves the shoulder line.
