Men's jackets and coats by cut and material
A jacket is worn almost every day, often over many winters. That is why it pays to be clear before you buy about what it is for: the commute to the office, long walks in the cold or an evening in town. The following sections sort the range by the features that make the difference in everyday life.
Types of fleece: merino, curly and shearling
In jackets with fleece, the sheepskin is the warming layer. Merino sheepskin is dense and even and keeps you warm without making you sweat. Curly sheepskin is finely curled, looks livelier and adds a little less bulk. Shearling refers to clipped sheepskin, where the fleece warms on the inside and the leather side is worn on the outside. Short styles with fleece are gathered in our men's sheepskin jackets, while longer cuts can be found among our men's sheepskin coats.
Types of leather: lamb nappa and suede
Lamb nappa is smooth, soft and supple, and depending on the model comes with a removable lining for extra warmth. Suede is brushed, velvety and matt and shows leather from its quieter side. Smooth leather with a lightly finished surface looks clean and understated. With wear, each of these leathers develops its own patina. Classic styles are shown in our men's leather jackets, and you will find the matt alternative among our men's suede jackets.
Cuts: bomber, aviator jacket and coat
The men's bomber jacket is short, ends at the hip and, depending on the model, has a half belt and a sheepskin collar that can be turned up. The aviator jacket draws on the classic flight jacket: a wide collar, an elasticated hem and cuffs, and a straight line. Blazer cuts and overshirt styles bring leather into the office, while the safari style with patch pockets and a belt suits leisure time and travel. If you prefer fabric, choose a coat in wool and cashmere, which you will find among our men's wool coats. The equivalent for women is shown under women's coats and jackets.
